I was part of the Iowa State Dance Team for 3 years. Throughout those three years I learned many life skills that I will take with me into my future career. While on the team, I was a workout captain. This meant that I lead our group workouts two times a week. I always had to show up and take charge for my teammates.

During my years at Almost Famous Dance Studio, I worked with children ranging from ages 2 - 14. I was a dance and gymnastics teacher. Sometimes I assisted other coaches, but other times I lead classes. This experience taught me leadership and how to cooperate with other teachers. I also gained a lot of patience from working with children of these ages for many hours per week. While working at the studio, I was also dancing there as the captain of my senior elite teams. This taught me delegation and how to lead 12 of my peers in the best way for each person.

I was the captain of my high school dance team for 2 consecutive years. The younger girls looked up to me, and I helped them grow to be hard-working. We all became friends outside of practice and met up for a homecoming picture every year. My coaches were who I looked up to most. They were the ones who taught me to be hard-working, determined and to never settle for less than what I deserved.

At the Scottish Rite Consistory I was in charge of managing set up and tear down of events. As well as replying to leads, e-mail inquiries, and questions that our customers have. I was also in charge of organizing event files, getting payments and insurance coverage, and social media posts. I have attached the link to a presentation I created about things I had done during my time working as an intern for the Scottish Rite Consistory, as well as links to the social media pages I was in charge of. I also worked and helped set up for the Des Moines Wedding Show. I was interviewed during a facebook live for their page at the booth that was set up for the Scottish Rite Consistory. At Monticello Jellystone Campground, I was the activities coordinator. This meant that I planned multiple daily activities for the campers to do, rain or shine. I also was in charge of creating marketing visuals to be used on social media. I assisted in creating an event called K9 Kampout for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. This group project was for a class called Special Events Coordination. We were in charge of planning a complete event for the ARL to put on for fundraising. The event we came up with consists of spending the night at the ARL training center, kennel building competitions, lowered adoption rates, animal themed food, and many other small details pertaining to the ARL. I have attached PDF files of the marketing we planned on using if our event got chosen to actually be planned. I have also attached a copy of our written project report that includes all details of the event.
Trends in Convention Centers

I created this project for a class taken after my internship. Trends in convention centers are very important, and are what keep you updated in the event industry. The topic I was assigned to research and present was sustainability in the industry. I chose to call it "Going Green". I chose this name because being sustainable goes hand in hand with going green. My main focus was convention centers around the world and what they are doing to further the corporate social responsibility spectrum and what they are doing to start "Going Green"
